Ericca Archer is starting over. She’s a ship’s captain without a ship. A spacecraft means independence and taking charge of her own destiny. But she’s broke, and because she’s beautiful, few men take her seriously. However, she’s not without resources a cool head, a sharp mind, and a steady gun make all the difference. Her need for money drives her to take work as a freelance security agent for a team of scientists. They need her to protect their plans and equipment, though it may already be too late. Part of that technology—plans to a weapon of insurmountable power—has already fallen into the wrong hands. Ericca must infiltrate the weapon itself and sabotage key components. To get the job done, she must elude the weapon’s security and escape detection, even as the forces of several governments align against her. Coming out of this alive will require the help of her brother Riley’s guns, and every bit of luck she’s never had. But there’s no choice. If she’s ever going to get a ship to call own she first has to keep the universe from blowing up.
Living in Freefall Living on the Run Book 1 eBook Ben Patterson
This is a saga in the "star wars" tradition, with a small group of rebels trying to survive in a universe of would-be controllers. There are several interesting characters and the plot is mostly believable. On the other hand, the writing is uneven and the author tends to interrupt himself with blocks of exposition, back-story or techno-babble that diffuse the tension and slow down the action. Also the main characters tend to complain that they're bored, so I was too. The result was that I conveniently found it easy to put the book down, so didn't lose any sleep over it. In spite of all the hand-waving and the generally accepted concept that advanced technology may be indistinguishable from magic, I still found myself unconvinced by some scenes which didn't appear to accept the laws of physics.Product details

Living in Freefall Living on the Run Book 1 eBook Ben Patterson Reviews
Good beginning for a new series. Definitely holds your attention. Can't wait to purchase 2nd book!
This story is well written. The characters are likeable; the dialogue made it easy to feel a connection to the characters and their struggles. This story has suspense, intrigue, love, family, faith, and plenty of action. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
